Hi guys! I hope you are all doing well. If you are a frequent reader of my blog then you know I am a drug store product junkie. I’m all about beauty on a budget and today is no different. Today we are going to be talking about the latest drug store foundation that has made waves across the beauty community. That foundation my friends, is the LA colors truly matte foundation. This foundation claims to be long wearing, high pigment and offers a wide variety of shades. I’m not too sure what the wide variety is that they speak of with 14 shades, but I put this foundation to the test in a first impressions/review video that I will link at the end of this post.
I chose the darkest shade Mahogany because , well all the other shades looked a tad too light. When I received the foundation it appeared a little cooler compared to my other foundations, but I still decided to give it a shot.
This foundation comes with 1.35fl of product and it is quite thick and has a powder like feel. It is VERY full coverage and mattifying. I have oily acne prone skin and quite a bit of hyper pigmentation and when I tell you all my spots were covered, I mean it covered EVERYTHING! I mean you can watch the video to see what I’m talking about.
When I first applied the product it came off a little too red/orange, not the hint of red that is usually in my foundations it was a little different. Shortly after it looked a little pinkish but then it started to look like quite a good match for me. So I would say it definitely oxidizes. I did think a little highlight and contouring would have made it a perfect match, so I did that and I was really surprised that the foundation really looked like a match for me. I was so surprised, in fact I am still surprised, I went from looking like an orange ogre to actually looking like myself.
Price: The product cost $ 6 on their website but I had to pay $8 shipping. Why is shipping more expensive than the product? I’m a little salty about that. I’d love to be able to find these in stores.
Shades: There are 14 shades as previously mentioned, if they expand the shade range, they stand to be one of the best full coverage drug store foundation on the market. I am 360 Mocha in Maybelline New York Fit Me Matte Plus Poreless Foundation, Black Radiance Color Perfect Liquid Make-Up, 8412 Cashmere and Clinique ‘Beyond Perfecting’ Foundation + Concealer 28 clove. So if you are my skin tone then the Mahogany shade will most likely be a match for you.
Photography: No flashbacks/ color difference when photographed with flash. I showed this in my video so you can check that out as well.
Comfort: The foundation was very comfortable on the skin. It was matte but not drying, it has a powder like texture and can last without blotting for up to 6 hours.
That is my 2 cents on this new foundation, I hope this was helpful. Be sure to check out the video and until next time loves, peace and blessings.
