Are you happy 2016 is over?

Hey friends! We have made it to the last day of 2016! What a year! I thought I’d write this post as I was scrolling through my Facebook news feed and saw someone posted a meme that read ” no one is saying 2017 will be my year because 2016 has humbled everyone” I was crying! that meme was funny but so true. Usually towards the end of the year I always see people post this ” new year, new me” nonsense and I literally roll my eyes, because come on, you know by the second week of January you’re over that “new year, new me” lingo. Don’t get me wrong, some people actually follow through on their resolutions which is amazing, but for majority of folks it’s dub by the second week of January.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t aspire for great things, however I feel like you should aspire to be great and have goals every day, not just at the beginning of the year. If it’s June and you suddenly decide to start a weight loss journey or something of the sort, go for it! don’t wait until December 31st to be like next year I’m going to lose weight blah blah blah. If you have negative people in your life drop them the second you realize they don’t add value to your life, drop them the second you see they are taking from you more than they are giving. This goes family, friends, lovers. Drop them the second you find them shady. There’s no need to wait for December 31st to say “this person isn’t going into the New Year with me”. Aspire to be better than the person you were yesterday and you’ll always be making improvements in your life.

2016 has been a great, draining, emotionally exhausting year for me. Sounds crazy right? lol I know. That’s because so many great things happened but I also had rough patches throughout the year. There are times when I was like ugh I’m so over this, then something else would happen and I’m like omg I’m so excited. In the end, all I can say is thank God for bringing me this far. Thank God for the gift of life, health, strength, family and a few good friends. I know many people are bringing in the new year at a party of some sort, at church, with family and loved ones or even working like I am. My wish for 2017 and all the other years to come is to be a better woman than the one I was yesterday. Happy New Year to you all, I wish you the best in all your endeavors. I love you all, thank you for your support and for reading my little ramblings whenever I post them (lol). Have fun on New Year’s Eve, be safe and I look forward to sharing more with you all in 2017.
